Musical Discovery Open House: An Indoor Musical Playground
What is the Music Discovery Open House? These music sessions are free-play times for children to come to our music school and experiment with playing a huge variety of musical instruments from around the world through hands-on instrument exploration. It is an intriguing and educational environment to help instill and strengthen children's love for music.
Examples of what you might find at a Music Discovery Open House are: guitar, ukulele, harp, piano, drums of all sizes and shapes, xylophones, maracas, castanets, shakers, mbira, vibraslap, rainstick, clatterpillar, guiro, ocean drum, clapper, cabasa, ginga shaker, dulcimer, triangle, singing bowl, bells, thunder tube, boomwhackers, cymbals, violin, etc. New instruments are continually added to our collection! Click here for a video preview of some of the instruments available to play with.
Or sit down and ready from our library of books about instruments, sound, and composers-- or color a picture of an instrument or composer!
Who is it for? It is for people of all ages who want to explore instruments (sometimes the parents have just as much fun as the children)! It is something that the entire family can enjoy together!
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
What is the admission cost? It is $5 for the first child, $3 for each additional child. Caregivers are free. Infants under 6 months free. Make it a playdate by bringing a friend and everyone receives $1 OFF admission!
When is the Musical Discovery Open House held? The open houses occur several times a month. The sessions vary and will be posted on the website and Creative Canton Facebook event page. No registration or appointment is required. Come any time during open hours and stay as little or as long as you'd like within those hours. Please check the calendar below for exact dates:
